Aikido Training
Sensei Jay has spent 20 years studying Aikido directly with his teacher Sensei Kimeda. This extended in depth focus on learning has fostered a deep understanding of the art and enhanced his ability to teach others. For the last 11 years he has been running Aikido Durham and expanding his skill sets into meditation, chi gong and other internal practices. He emphasizes the importance of internal cultivation and mindfulness in martial arts practice, working to help others reach their self improvement goals.
Daoist Meditation Traditions
The art of non-action, or "Wu Wei," is a central principle in Daoist meditation. It encourages practitioners to let go of resistance and allow things to unfold naturally. This approach fosters a deep sense of harmony with the flow of life.
This meditation practice is the primary focus of Sensei Jay's teaching philosophy and can help cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance, allowing practitioners to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience.
Chi Gong Practice
Chi Gong combines slow movement with breath training to develop internal awareness and improve overall wellbeing. Students can expect to learn a foundational approach to this area of study that they can work on at their own pace.
"A good instructor teaches students how to fight, a great instructor teaches students how to live."— Ricardo Almeida
